Auf geht's!

"Finale" was the exhibition of the final projects of this year's Folkwang graduates in communication design, photography and industrial design. The venue: the striking SAANA building on the Zollverein UNESCO world heritage site. The highly energy efficient SANAA cube of Folkwang University of the Arts, designed by Pritzker Architecture Award-winning duo Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawato aims to encourage communication, creativity and exchange of knowledge. A very apt event and location for this year's meeting with Bodo and Jörg from Kommunikationsagentur Mäuser, our partner in the Ruhrgebiet.

Bodo, Head of Design and Production, studied graphic design at the renowned Folkwang School of Design and likes to keep up with the latest developments at his alma mater. Jörg, conceptualiser, advertising consultant and copywriter for print and web, is a very keen and talented photographer, and a wordsmith with a sharp focus on detail and impact.

Tony, an evaporative, clay-based cooling concept for food items, which was developed and presented by Lea Lorenz as her final project in industrial design, ticked all the boxes for me: this environmentally-friendly system with its aesthetically pleasing and practical design only uses components made from clay – a natural material with tactile quality – and aims to encourage consumers to use more sustainable methods for storing food items, thus reducing food waste and energy consumption. Very much a Folkwang project: addressing today’s challenges by applying an inter-disciplinary approach.

This event and the very special location definitely created a highly stimulating environment for a meeting of creatives, including industrial designers.

Kommunikationsagentur Mäuser provide communication solutions, including consultancy, concepts, text, design, and production. "AUF GEHT‘S!" is their mantra, and an invitation to a first discussion of your project requirements.

4 Translations provide technical translations for some of KM's clients, e.g. Bilfinger Engineering & Technologies GmbH, and benefit from Jörg's and Bodo's expertise in creating effective marketing texts for some of our clients, e.g. Metroflor and Daimon Barber, and their experience in website design and contents.

Lea Lorenz explains the different steps involved in developing Tony ("Ton" means clay in German): from concept and experiments with different types of clay, through to product design and manufacturing.
